Department Description The Fiber to the Premise (FTTP) Division develops high speed fiber connectivity products to the residential commercial or individuals premise. This fiber connectivity provides aggregated voice video and data services. The hardware engineering department is responsible for hardware product design development and sustaining for the product portfolio. Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations This position will be responsible for the hardware engineering support of released product in the Fiber to the Premise (FTTP) division. Responsible for the management and resolution of design related issues escalated from Manufacturing or Customer Support. Work with the change control process by writing and/or approving ECO’s on released product. Making proper manufacturing and field recommendations based on an understanding of the design issue. Work closely with Compliance on issues that affect product certification. Manage product respins that may include design changes, manufacturability improvements, or cost reduction opportunities. Consult on AVL changes to determine impact to product form, fir or function. This process requires a strong self-motivated individual who is willing to be the engineering focal point on a variety of issues and projects.^^ Specific Knowledge/Skills Required Experience: -6+ years experience in engineering design, sustaining or test engineering -1+ years experience with investigating and debugging product issues. Preferred Experience: -Good hardware debug skills -Excellent multi-tasking skills -Chassis based product design, development or sustaining experience -Familiarity with ECO's and product change control management -Data Networking experience -understanding of compliance issues for NEBS3 -strong interpersonal skills for customer interaction DCS
