Some Recession Job Hunting Tips

Some Recession Job Hunting TipsHopefully the economic recession isn't going to impact your job-but that doesn't mean you shouldn't take precautions. You don't want to wait until you're holding your pink slip in hand and wondering how you're going to make next month's mortgage payment to start looking around for another job, and you don't want to wait until you need something from them to touch base with your old bosses and co-workers and your friends and acquaintances that might be able to offer you work when the going gets rough.

Network

It's all about networking. If you know anything about real estate you know "location, location, location" is every agent's mantra. (Right after "Buy low and sell high".) A piece of property that's within easy walking distance to schools, grocery stores and public transportation is going to be far more desirable than one that is miles away from everything, no matter how beautiful the location.

The same thing applies to you when the time comes for you to find a job. That house in the middle of everything is going to sell much more quickly, and you, in the middle of a huge network of friends and potential employers, are going to be able to find work much more rapidly. If you've kept in touch with your bosses and associates, both past and present, you'll not only probably already know who's hiring and who's not, you may have the inside track when it comes to finding another job.

If you wait to get in touch with them until you've been laid off, however, you're going to find yourself struggling. They're going to know that the only reason you're contacting them is because you're hoping to get a job, and they're going to look at you unfavorably-not only because you're willing to use your friends that way in the first place, but that you would be caught so unprepared. They're going to be far more concerned with their own affairs at that point than they are about yours.

How to Easily Create a Phone Campaign to Network For a Job

How to Easily Create a Phone Campaign to Network For a JobOur task here is to take our list of contacts, Friends and Family and than begin to dial the phone.

The basic formula for this step is to Dial the phone; Make Contact, Set Appointments and than Follow Up on Leads. It's that simple.

1. Dial the Phone

2. Make Contact

3. Set Appointments

4. Follow Up On Leads

Some Specific Details: Ask yourself, How many times did you Dial the Phone in a week? Did you actually make Contact with someone who gave you helpful info?

Did you set any Appointments to meet with them or someone who could help you? Did you collect additional Leads that could help you?

These are the questions you need to ask yourself at the end of the day. A good example of a day's effort would be. To have dialed the phone 10 times, that's likely to have taken an hour by itself.

Than you're likely to have contacted 5 people, don't count any messages you left. Only count real people you made contact with. Than set at least 1 appointment and schedule that meeting/appointment on your calendar.

Than do the same thing tomorrow. You can pick anytime to call your friends and family. I would hope you know when a good time to call is. What's most important isn't that what you do today. It's what you do this week and next week and the next week.

By the end of a week you will have made 50 calls, contacted 25 people set 5 appointments and likely went to at least 2 appointments that week.

Next week you will have made 50 calls, contacted 25 people, set 5 appointments, and went to at least 5 appointments that week.

The reason you went to 5 of them this week instead of just 2 is because of the other 2 - 3 you set last week to go to this week. Than you'll just repeat this every week.

That's How To Easily Create a Phone Campaign To Network For a Job.
